I am a midwifery student and will be going into my third year from September. I've classically been brought up in a close Christian family which has been such a blessing now looking back, although that's not what I thought at the time. I grew up going to church every week and being a proper keen bean so I thought I knew a lot about the Bible and that Jesus was my friend, turns out I didn't and I didn't enable him to be apart or have an impact on all of my life. It was only when I started to face hard times that life throws at you in my teens, like the reality of death and life that I understood its life-changing message because I could see how much I messed up, how broken the world was and that we needed saving. God not only created us out of love but loved us so much that even though we reject him, his son Jesus willingly died to bring us back to him. With this news, God thankfully changed how I saw him from him just being an all-loving God.
Instead to a God who is all just and loving at the same time which brings such hope, joy and peace to life even amidst the suffering of life and to put them into a greater perspective of a future life with God forever, where there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain. Revelation 21:4
This becomes especially important during difficult times like this lockdown because it’s easy to feel lost and so I am really encouraged by verses like these that show God will never abandon us, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39. This gives me such hope that makes me want to share Jesus with everyone around me so they can know him personally for themselves too!
