MEET IZZY

Year: 3rd Year

Course: Early Childhood

From: Buckinghamshire

I grew up in a baptist church and enjoyed having a wider family of Christians being part of my life. I understood the bible and it’s teachings but it wasn’t until I was 15 that I recognised the

significance of a relationship with Jesus.

I was in Israel on a trip and Gods word came alive to me. I was at the place where Jesus delivered the sermon on the mount and I felt an unearthly peace fill my being. I knew that God was calling me to get baptised and so that same week I was baptised in the river Jordan. Years later God gave me a picture pointing back to my baptism day that I will take with me for life. It encouraged me and showed me that although I might be scared to live my life fully devoted to Jesus, that he is always with me and so I mustn’t be afraid. Matthew 28:19-20 says that ‘Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’

I still have feelings of anxiety occasionally but knowing that the creator of the world cares so deeply for me that he sent his son Jesus to die on a cross to restore a relationship with me brings me so much peace. My life has been undeniably better following Jesus and I look forward to sharing his message of love and hope for the rest of my life.
